This is from a British right-wing propelled controversy in 1918 involving, in part, an Oscar Wilde play, “Salome”, “The Cult of the Clitoris” (<snicker>) and the Canadian born actress Maud Allan that played Salome and whose audience was supposedly, in general, made up of sexual deviants…

Spencer used the term Clitoris in his article as another way of identifying deviants… since only said deviants would even know what a clitoris was… HA!!

Allan was eventually brought to court AND lost.

The New Testament makes direct remarks to homosexuality being a sin…

but does it really?

Here is the essential New Testament remark:

” Do you not know that the wicked will not inherit the kingdom of God? Do not be deceived: Neither the sexually immoral nor idolaters nor adulterers nor male prostitutes nor homosexual offenders nor thieves nor the greedy nor drunkards nor slanderers nor swindlers will inherit the kingdom of God.”

About 99% of the New Testament, as we have it now, was written originally in Greek, the remnants being in Aramaic or Hebrew.

The greek word that gets translated as “homosexual” is malakos. Seen here:

“á¼¢ οὐκ οἴδατε ὅτι ἄδικοι θεοῦ βασιλείαν οὐ κληρονομήσουσιν; μὴ πλανᾶσθε· οὔτε πόρνοι οὔτε εἰδωλολάτραι οὔτε μοιχοὶ οὔτε μαλακοὶ οὔτε ἀρσενοκοῖται.”

Malakos literally means “soft”. When Classical Greek uses malakos in regards to a man it implies him being effeminate; Malakos does NOT in anyway imply homosexuality.

The Greek and Roman world were very comfortable with homosexuality and homosexual acts. What modern society would define as a 100% straight heterosexual man could comfortably go off and have homosexual sex, it simply wasn’t anathema.

What Greek and Roman society did despise was weakness, which they exemplified as the soft whining puling squeamish cowardly effeminate male who, in the Classical world, could have been as straight as a yard stick.

Translators and theologians can claim all they want that the writer of 1 Corinthians meant “homosexual”, but its a spurious and disingenuous claim. A writer in the 1st Century AD, especially writing in Greek for an educated audience that conversed in Greek as the scholarly lingua franca, is going to use words of that cultural and period context. Malakos therefore meant weakness, not homosexuality.

Below I’ve included two examples within the New Testament of where malakos is correctly translated as “soft” or “fine”, apparently where they can’t get a jab in against queers.

“If not, what did you go out to see? A man dressed in fine clothes? No, those who wear fine clothes are in kings’ palaces.”

Frankly, as funny as this may sound… it ain’t personal… but it’s personally applied…

There’s a fairly simple logical explanation of why I hate American’s and why that hate isn’t some form of “racism”…

The principals of Democracy insist that the people, the citizens of the country, ar the ones who rule…

I have stated repeatedly over the years that I don’t hate American people, I just hate their government and the institutions it represents…

However, since the American people are so proud of their country and their “democracy”… to the degree that they feel that their way of life represents the morally best form of life and governance, then I have decided… quite consciously that they then MUST accept the moral and political responsibility for that government.

Saying that only 52% of Americans supported Bush is just a cop out… with blind anonymous voting no person can be held to account for the mistakes of their representatives… therefore, the people as whole must be held responsible… no other option is available.

Make no mistake… once Bush and/or the Republicans leave the white house, congress and senate, that opinion I have now held will not be changed…

there is no fundamental ideological difference between the Democratic party and the Republicans… their difference is in procedure only with some few surface differences as the exceptions…

both parties have accepted “Manifest Destiny” and the intrinsic belief that they represent THE model for the rest of the world.

This base ignorance and sickening superiority will not change with with an administration change.

Only when American’s accept that they represent what MAY be one of many valid systems… and only when their rampant cancerous dependence on capitalism and this smug superiority has no representation in their government then maybe I, for all that’s worth, will maybe review my opinions once again.

In the context of the latest war in South Lebanon, those rules mean – we are not allowed to report any Hezbollah hits on military bases, not allowed to broadcast news of ministerial visits to the frontline until ministers are safely back out of Hezbollah’s range.

And if rockets land whilst we are live on air, we have to be vague as to where they fall (the theory being that Hezbollah may be watching BBC World or equivalent, and using our information to help them calibrate their rockets launchers). Also we are not allowed to report on military casualties until the Israeli censor says so.
