I don’t know enough about Ukrainian politics or its past 14 year history to make ANY comment. That doesn’t make me unique, but I’m sure fairly rare.

Which certainly makes me chuckle at all the opinions of people who are in the exact same boat, but HAVE an opinion, and feel it’s actually valid.

Don’t get me wrong, everyone’s entitled to an opinion, but jeez people start accepting that there are SOME things you don’t know and that what your minister says may not ACTUALLY be the truth from god on high.

The REALLY hilarious opinions come from American’s who, either see this as vindicating Bush’s anti-liberal movement, or as another proof that Bush and Blair are out to rule the world.

As for MY opinion, this whole thing reeks from both sides and once again shows how the world is falling into its old patterns of bloody inhuman sectarian violence.

Political slant aside, we DO have the USA to thank for this reality. The economic warfare that it so successfully campaigned against the former Soviet Union is beginning to show the corrupt and decadent result that was so evident to anyone with eyes in 1990-91.

Make no mistakes, my sympathies had always gone completely towards the USSR (and now Russia) in that whole showdown, but I am not so ignorant, or immature, as to believe that the USSR was not itself prone to gross excesses and criminality. Unlike the rabid fundamentalists preaching evangelical democracy – who are incapable of accepting ANY wrong in the practice of free-market democracy.

All we need now is to have Fox Broadcasting make a reality show out of this: “The Ukrainian Bride”, where emaciated poverty stricken women beg American men to marry them, or hire them as whores for American business men.

Personally, I’m just waiting for some current Archduke Franz Ferdinand to be shot by an anarchist (or more likely a CIA infiltrator of the ‘Black Bloc’) and give the Bush regime all the excuse needed to ‘blitzkrieg’ the world to ashes.

Not that much convincing will be needed to get the majority of American people onside to incinerate all the world’s pedophiles, pederasts, homosexuals, deviants and… commie pinkos (which all happen to live everywhere else – especially Europe).

Folks, you wanted it, and now you got it. My sympathies are with the Ukrainian people who have not been bought by either side of this debacle, and as always they will be the victims.

the dictionary defines an “insurgent” as someone:

calling someone an insurgent thus presupposes an “established authority”…

NATO Begins Training Iraqi Forces
(Training course in Norway benefits high-level security personnel)

First NATO Course for Iraq Underway in Norway

STAVANGER, Norway – Nineteen Iraqi security personnel are here at NATO’s Joint Warfare Centre participating in the first training conducted outside of Iraq in support of the training mission announced by the Alliance at the Istanbul Summit in June.

The eight-day course, which started Monday, supports the training requested by the interim Iraqi government and has been tailored to meet the needs of mid- to high-ranking Iraqi security personnel.

“Our NATO facility is well placed to offer our Iraqi guests training that will be extremely relevant to the challenges and opportunities they face in rebuilding their country’s security institutions,” said the center’s director, British Army Major-General James Short. The centre specializes in joint headquarters-level training.

The Iraqi participants range from senior military officers to civilian staff with Iraq’s Ministry of Defense and Ministry of the Interior. They were specially selected by Iraqi authorities as “key leaders” from within Iraq’s security forces.

The course focuses on the function of an operational-level headquarters and includes instruction on crisis management, command and control of forces, the operational planning process, and integration of all aspects of civil-military cooperation, including liaison with the UN, Red Cross, and other international organizations.

“Our host nation, Norway, is providing excellent support to this training,” said Major-General Short.

The training will serve as a pilot project for possible follow-on training at the Joint Warfare Centre and back in Iraq. The ultimate aim is to help Iraq develop its own training capability.

Through the NATO Training and Equipment Coordination Group, led by NATO’s Supreme Allied Commander Transformation, the Alliance is coordinating Iraqi requests for further training by NATO or other organizations.
