Up until this point I thought that even American dominated capitalist slavery was better than the Taliban…
Now, I know better, the Taliban were no worst than what’s there now… but at least they provided peace and stability for the people…
as monstrous as they were… I can now say that they were better than what is there now.

With Canada doing America’s dirty work in Afghanistan… maintaining naval patrols in the Persian Gulf…
do Canadian’s really deserve the different treatment?
It’s certainly nice to think we do… but I am coming to doubt it.
The Toronto native said armed men burst into the JumpStart office and aimed their guns at him because they thought he was American. They didn’t believe he was Canadian, even when he showed them his passport.
“It’s not very pleasant to be recognized as an American. They give special treatment to people of American origin,” he said.
Budzanowski said four men surrounded him in the backseat of a vehicle as he was driven to a building.
“It was a rough ride at high speeds,” he said.
With a mask over his head, Budzanowski said he was taken to a building with cement floors, shoved against a wall, a door and pushed down a staircase.
“I was sure they were going to physically harm me,” he said.
Budzanowski said he was moved at least four times overnight and prevented from sleeping.
But he said his captors treated him “nicely” when they realized he was Canadian.
“Later at night when they realized, they changed from extreme rough to lightly rough. Today they changed and treated me nicely,” he said.

I was reading a passage from a book on the Kabbalah (yes I know… a guilty pleasure)…
when I came across this passage from the Rabbi Abraham Isaac Kook…
So long as the world moves along accustomed paths, so long as there are no wild catastrophes, man can find sufficient substance for his life by contemplating surface events, theories, and movements of society. He can acquire his inner richness from this external kind of “property.” But this is not the case when life encounters fiery forces of evil and chaos. Then the man who tries to sustain himself only from the surface aspects of existence will suffer terrible impoverishment, begin to stagger… then he will feel welling up within himself a burning thirst for that inner substance and vision which transcends the obvious surfaces of existence and remains unaffected by the world’s catastrophes.
This is the reason for religion…
The religious will see this as a testament to their spirituality.
I however see this as justification of why I am a weak atheist.
This is a Rabbi, who feels in this statement he is justifying his faith, saying that man retreats to religion due to fear and alienation.
He is implying that the impulse to religion due to fear shows the reason and justifies religion.
I, however, see that as an explanation of religions bankruptcy.
Information or cooperation gained under torture or duress is of no value.
Likewise, faith gained because of fear or alienation is of no intrinsic value.
This is non-negotiable.

Buddhism espouses the middle path, between austere aesceticism and flagrant debauchery.
Modern theory has us believe that compromise is the reasonable way to behave, to find a middle ground between parties that both sides can accept and thereby move forward.
Probably some corrupt idea of a dialectic.
This cannot work. Man must find a middle path within himself in order to just remain sane, but external to man must be an understanding of what is right and wrong. By this I in no way imply some mythical dice tosser; that kettle of fish is neither necessary nor desirable.
Between every two positions is not necessarily a compromise that should become the de facto accepted idea of right and just. The suggestion is ludicrous.
The Son of Sam killed lots of people because he was compelled to, as a compromise we’ll limit him to just 3. Very reasonable.
Hitler killed 6 million Jews and millions more of Russians, Poles, gypsies, homosexuals, communists. Instead of killing all those Jews and others, everyone should compromise and let Hitler ship them all to Antarctica. Sounds fair to me.
Communism declares all capitalism is intrinsically unjust and leads to economic enslavement and must be brought down. Capitalism declares that justice and freedom can only be gained through free market capitalism.
Some may argue today that Democratic Socialism represents a middle path, a compromise that can accommodate all. And its proponents highlight examples like Sweden, Norway and France; as clear examples of how capitalism is protected, while leaving the citizenry secure in their social nets.
This however does not address the underlying truth of Capitalism. That through chance, speculation and, sometimes admittedly, hard work; some people become wealthy and through that wealth gain a privileged status in their society.
Yet, the Capitalist enterprise, by its very nature, reduces the worker to wage slavery.
This fact becomes glossed over by politicians and apologists by glorifying the social safety nets that are only made possible by taxation of those same capitalists. In effect, telling people they should appreciate the capitalists for enabling them to receive the services and lifestyle they have. Appreciate the table scraps, boy.
The citizen is never told that they should appreciate the capitalist for providing them with something they have every right to in the first place.
The capitalist through his largesse is providing for peoples basic human rights by siphoning off from his/her own profits. What nobility! What magnanimity!
Frankly, that capitalists and politicians have convinced people en masse to be grateful for something that never should have been withheld from them in the first place is absolutely mind boggling.
And, it never crosses the common Joe’s mind that it is the capitalist that should be grateful for being given a chance to suck away people’s inherent intrinsic rights so that they can buy one more car, give their teenage daughters boob-jobs, divorce one more model, float one more yacht and snort one more line of cocaine.
Joe is never perturbed.
And frankly, I just can’t believe that Joe is just that nice that he can accommodate that 16 foot steel rod up his arse.
He’s not that nice, he’s just that stupid, ignorant and politically lazy.
Is there really any wonder why benevolent leaders become dictators in the end?
