June 2006

This sentence says it all:

In 2004, those earning less than $20,000 a year gave away on average 1.7 per cent of their income. Those with household incomes of more than $100,000 gave away an average of 0.5 per cent.”

This disparity proves something I’ve said for a long time… even if the rich give more in charity in total, they give less per capita…

that is why dependence on charity to solve poverty, hunger and other social woes in Canada cannot work… and while it continues, is unfair…

even a flat tax, which is also all kinds of unfair and I in no way endorse, could better a system dependent on charity.

If this world is to ever see peace and freedom these religions must be eradicated.

However, there is NO doubt that Marx was correct when he said that religion was an opiate; therefore, religion will always be defended by the ignorant that believe.

Hinduism (Vedantic), Buddhism and Taoism are the ONLY exceptions because they either accept any belief or choose no belief.

Society needs to treat believers as individuals with a mental disorder. There is no need for violence or pogroms, however, their role in society should be reduced to their households only. Drugs, therapy and education can eventually release society from this blight.

Does this opinion make me intolerant? hell, yes… and I will not apologize for it.

nothing in religous dialogue proves that my opinion or intolerance is unjustified; on the contray, it may prove that I am too forgiving.

Barring capitalism, religion is the single most destructive and malignant force in the modern world.

prove me wrong

no political language can make this stance taken by the US to be anything other than a declaration of its enmity towards Venezuela in general and specifically Hugo Chavez, who we know is the freely and legitimately democratically voted in President of Venezuela.

Link: In full: US note on Venezuela (BBC)

The US has taken several stands against democratically led countries in the past few years, namely Venezuela and Palestine. I’m sure Bolivia will soon be added to that list.

Nothing else so completely proclaims the failure of democracy; either that OR the world faces an idea that the US considers the people of Palestine and Venezuela, PERSONALLY and INDIVIDUALLY, to be its enemies.

Brown shirts are at it again… 60 years after the fall of the Third Reich the world is falling back into complacency in regards to the political right around the world.

Is there really any surprise when leftists get tired of the attacks, incriminations and political persecution and themselves fall into a cycle of violence?

If Mother Theresa had a pistol in her hand when she saw someone being murdered would she be condemned if she shot the assailant to stop the murder? Would she be considered any less the “saint” she is today?

why then when leftists rise up to stop the persecution of the poor and unpriveleged are they condemned?

Six Nations Haudenosaunee Confederacy Press Release
- June 11, 2006 -

The Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) have issued arrest warrants for seven (7) people from the Six Nations Reclamation site. Charges include attempted murder, robbery, intimidation and causing bodily harm.

The Haudenosaunee Confederacy deliberated this issue during Council on Saturday June 10th, 2006. The individuals involved in these incidents were brought before the Confederacy Chiefs and Clan Mothers, on Sunday, June 11, 2006, to discuss and understand the incidents. The Confederacy Chiefs and Clan Mothers spoke with these individuals about the Great Law of Peace and how it is to guide our actions.

Our investigation is continuing. It was decided that for the safety of all involved, these individuals would be removed from the site until our investigation is complete. We are working with the Ontario Provincial Police and the Six Nations Police to ensure the safety of all people within our respective jurisdictions.

Our investigation has indicated the “Border Security” vehicle being driven by the “police officer” was actually an Alcohol, Tobacco, and Firearm (ATF) vehicle from the United States of America. Two officers in the vehicle were from the United States of America accompanied by an officer with the Ontario Provincial Police. We have found evidence that indicates these officers were in the area since April 2, 2006 assisting in the current policing of the occupation of the Six Nations Reclamation site. This is particularly concerning due to the reputation of the ATF. The Haudenosaunee are dismayed that the OPP gave permission to these officers from the United States of America to assist in this situation without any prior communication to our people, this has incited an already tense situation. We are working with the Ontario Provincial Police to clarify this situation.

The Haudenosaunee has legally binding treaties with the Crown. The Two Row Wampum belt and the Silver Covenant Chain affirms the parameters of the relationship between our two governments. These treaties acknowledge the Sovereignty of our people and Nation. The Silver Covenant Chain speaks of a relationship between our two governments based upon Respect, Peace and Friendship. To have a good strong Friendship, there needs to be a commitment to exercise “Kanikonriio” that is the “Good Mind” which means equality, justice, and the commitment to help each other in times of need. The Two Row Wampum Belt identifies the nation to nation basis which are people are to deal with. The Two Row Wampum Belt depicts our governments operating within our own “canoes.” This means that each of our respective governments will continue to operate under their own laws and will not interfere with the affairs of the other governments.

Under our treaties the only issues which fall under the Crown’s jurisdiction are Murder, Rape and Theft. According to the Treaty of Fort Albany made with the Crown there is an extradition process which must be followed in order to address any of these three issues.

Our people follow the Great Law of Peace and are not a people of violence. The Haudenosaunee are committed to ensuring that the Great Law of Peace is respected and followed at the Reclamation Site.

Famous astrophysicist Stephen Hawking said Thursday that the late Pope John Paul II once told scientists they should not study the beginning of the universe because it was the work of God.

The British author _ who wrote the best-seller “A Brief History of Time” _ said that the pope made the comments at a cosmology conference at the Vatican.

Hawking, who didn’t say when the meeting was held, quoted the pope as saying, “It’s OK to study the universe and where it began. But we should not enquire into the beginning itelf because that was the moment of creation and the work of God.”

The scientist then joked during a lecture in Hong Kong, “I was glad he didn’t realize I had presented a paper at the conference suggesting how the universe began. I didn’t fancy the thought of being handed over to the Inquisition like Galileo.”

the idea of religion, at least the abrahamic based religions, is that man lives this life to prove his/her worth for heaven by avoiding sin. Sin, generally, being the state of giving in to the temptations of life.

ie. life is a test

all well and good. However, the religious community does everything to remove those temptations from life.

for example, Islam wants women to cover up, removing the temptation they present to men (let’s not get into the unfairness of making women responsible for the minds of men).

however, what worth is tested in a man’s life if the thing that may tempt him is kept from him.

a life can be lived in a vacuum, withdrawn from all temptations and from mankind, thus keeping that person from having ever sinned. Does that make that life more worthy of heaven than the life lived in the midst of temptations and still denied them?

I’ll go even further and ask; does a life lived in seculsion and avoiding sin simply by the absense of temptations even worth heaven?

Fact is, Christ himself sought out the temptations of Satan in order to prove to himself that he was worthy of the tasks ahead of him.

It is actually the duty fo the religious to allow all forms of temptations to persist in society in order to test mankind. Otherwise their lives are empty shells having proven nothing to the almighty.
